Is your skin feeling dull and lifeless but you don’t have the cash to spend on expensive products?

Whether your living in summer or winter, seasons apart our bodies all need some love and nurturing on a regular basis. The problem is most products on the market are super expensive, although their claims have us handing over our cash in an instant:

  • Reduce stretch marks
  • Rid cellulite
  • Tighter skin
  • Smoother appearance

The list goes on….

“What I have found over the years since switching my products from your typical expensive brands to home made natural products, is that the ones I make at home with natural, organic ingredients make a noticeable difference to my skin immediately.”

I am also supporting our ecosystem by avoiding harsh chemicals, plastic packaging and the impact that producing and transporting these products has on our environment.

And just to let you in on a little secret… those lumps and bumps us ladies find on our thighs and bums isn’t fat (as we grew up thinking) but toxin build up around our fat cells, so by switching to natural products you will be reducing your toxic overload and I can honestly say making your way to smoother, cellulite free skin (no false claims here). Often behind these products are inhumane slave labor operations that we are never told about, instead often a curtain of beautiful marketing and packaging leads us to believe that these products are healthy and good for both us and our planet. Remember I worked in marketing for over 10 years and know all the tricks of the trade to have us convinced that these products are going to be the miracle cure we have been looking for… don’t be fooled! Whilst living in Central America for a year I realised that we really don’t need ALL these products we purchase, even when I moved homes recently I found once again I had accumulated loads of products albeit natural that I had barely used and did not need. I immediately remembered my simple lifestyle back in central where my skin was the clearest it had ever been and I had a light bulb moment. I am now opting to make my own products that I can tailor to the seasons and exactly what my body needs. So I have decided to share some really simple recipes with you to get you on the path to making sustainable, organic, nourishing products for your face and body.

Before you tell me you don’t have time, I guarantee it will take you less time to make any of the products I use than it would for you to drive to the shops and buy your current products. You won’t need any fancy equipment or ingredients either.

You could even make up batches and give to friends as beautiful personalized gifts. You can thank me later for the hundreds of dollars you are about to save!

My first skin care recipe is for a nourishing body scrub, which is super simple with just 3 ingredients and feels and smells amazing! I had seen too much Bali sun last week, so my skin was in desperate need of some TLC and this did the job with just one use

  1. 1 cup coconut oil
  2. ½ cup finely ground pink Himalayan rock salt
  3. 6 drops of your favourite essential oil I used lavender

  1. Melt coconut oil in a bowl
  2. Add in finely ground salt (if you have coarse salt whizz it in the food processor, the more coarse the rougher the scrub I like mine finer so its gentle on the skin and not too abrasive)
  3. Add in your essential oil (I choose a different one each time depending on how im feeling and what season it is some favoriteS are: lavender – relaxation/stress relief, peppermint – refreshing, energizing, chamomile – calming/PMS.t]

Always remember change is a process be kind to yourself and your body. Each choice you make to become healthier is a good one, no matter how fast the road is that you take. My advice is to start switching one product at a time, as they run out and try a few variations to see what works for you.
