Raw Chocolate Balls

Sometimes we all need a quick snack or healthy treat and I love this recipe for a few reasons.

They are super simple and fast to whip up in under 15 minutes…perfect for those of us that are busy. They are also great for packed work lunches, post workout snack or road or plane trips. They keep in the freezer for ages honestly they have never lasted long enough to not still be ok to eat, you could store for up to a month and still eat these.

There are loads of variations of these I try and make mine with a good balance of protein, carbs and good fats so as well as feeling like a naughty chocolatey treat they are also super nutritious and filling so you feel satisfied after just one.


Serving size = 20 balls (depends on the size you roll them)


1 cup cacao

1 cup almonds

1 cup shredded coconut (+ additional for rolling)

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup goji berries

1 tbsp chia seeds

2 tbsp rice malt syrup (can be substituted for honey or date paste)

1 scoop of preferred protein powder (I use Great Lakes gelatin protein powder)

2 tbsp coconut oil or coconut cream (either works well)


Put all ingredients in a food processor. Whiz until even consistency. (I process mine until as smooth as I can but if you prefer more chunky texture process for less time, time will vary depending on what you are using I use a Thermomix and whiz for 1 minute on high). Once mixed take tablespoons full and roll with hands. Have a plate close by covered in a thin layer of shredded coconut and roll the ball in to finish. Place in a sealed container and freeze for up to 1 month, they can be eaten straight from freezer within about 10 minutes.
